This cover is amazingly colorful & wonderful to look at. Not only does it bring a smile to my face, it engages and intrigues my mind as to what lies beneath the cover.
Ok, so the artist is my beloved cousin but my comments are sincerely focused on the gift and talent she has as an artist. There are simply not enough words to describe the beauty of her work.
I like this the most because the rendering is totally fresh. It can be appreciated by child and adult.
Rediscovering my childhood! Beautiful work Monette; now I want to re-read the Princess and the Pea!
Colors are distinctive, and also blend. Wonderful.
It’s rare for childrens book cover to have the faint color, shadow effect.
Making you look deeper into the scene.
Through imagination only can you see her facial features.
I like the use of curves with highlight & low lights giving a softer touch.
It captured the scene in its entirety.
I love this illustration. Tel your daughter to keep it up.
This is loaded with charm.True art speaks volumes and layers,as conveyed in Ms.Pangan’s rendition of The Princess and the Pea.Bravo!
On this cover …
In viewing this fairy tale cover, the child (in me) makes me wonder and want to read once again the meaning behind the story of the princess and the pea!
I found the imaginative perspective of the artist drawn out in her show of her style, technique and colours, superb and attractive to the eyes of a child!
To Monette …
you are exceptional and ‘oozing’ with creative powers .. your sacrifices and efforts will be rewarded sooner than you can imagine .. ‘break a leg’ .. couz!!!
There is something delicate and otherworldly about this beautiful picture. All the pretty pastels in that squishy-soft precarious bed, and then the hint of balcony in those stark black windows … the contrasts are subtle and interesting which, as Grace says, makes the cover intriguing.
Awesome as always Auntie Nette! Keep it up
Monette’s rendition leaves me breathless (figuratively & literally). Breathless not only of her perfect use of light & shadow, soft & bold colors; but also of that moment you feel as if you were the princess herself…look at the faint expression on her face as if saying, “Oops! I might fall, it’s so high!”
This one has the soft, fuzzy feel of a dream.
It’s always the whimsy in Monette’s work in the genre that never ceases to amaze me. It’s ever so light and delicate like a child’s passing thought
